Stotesbury Mansion - The Philo Literary Institute

*These next several posts were backed logged with procrastination so the timing may seem off*

Nick and I went to Stotesbury Mansion, in the heart of Center City, after a very late of his band having a show. But we are dedicated wedding planners... or just getting desperate so we briskly walked the 15 block walk to this gem hidden in the city.

Clive, the man who met us at the door, was so nice. He showed us the whole house and lots of pictures from other weddings.
This bar was hidden during the Prohibition behind a mirror in a completely mirrored room.. Totally cool!

One of the many rooms you could use for cocktail reception etc.

The main room. The whole place was a bit too fancy for us and it made us realize we really did want our ceremony outdoors and that wasn't much of an option here.

Looking into the mirrored room from the main room - the bar is on the right.

Overall, we decided against it, but if you want to be in the heart of Philly and have a beautiful historical mansion (it had the Dolly Madison fireplace from the White House too!) then this place is perfect for you. Plus, it was relatively cheap ($1800 for the day) compared to other places we looked at.

And oh,I bet my dad and Nick's friends wishes we had picked this place -
could have smoked cigars in the upstairs men's lounge...
